RALEIGH — Gov. Pat McCrory announced today that the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority approved 26 grant requests totaling $8,697,833. Raleigh, N.C. – The North Carolina Senate on Wednesday unanimously passed a $200 million disaster relief package proposed by Gov. Pat McCrory to help families and communities across North Carolina recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Matthew and wildfires that have ravaged the state since October.
Raleigh, N.C. – Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) issued the following statement Monday:
“Gov. McCrory leaves a tremendous positive legacy for our state and deserves a great deal of credit for graciously conceding an election that brought much-needed attention to the potential for fraud, and other weaknesses, in our state's election system. We will work with Gov.-elect Cooper to address these problems and to make certain voters have confidence in the outcome of future elections.
Right choice for Senate
To the editor: My husband and I have had the pleasure of knowing Chuck Edwards for more than 20 years. Our relationship began when he and his wife, Teresa, became the local owners of several McDonalds in our area and we were store managers at two of those locations. Over the years, we became more than just employer/employee — we became friends and colleagues.
Our friendship developed over common values and beliefs that Chuck embodies in his personal and professional life. Chuck is a hardworking, personable and knowledgeable businessman who began his career as a crewperson at McDonalds. He worked tirelessly to achieve his success and provides a work environment that allows his employees to grow professionally and support their families.
With his expertise in investing, Chuck has made it possible for my husband and me to retire in 2014 and be able to maintain our lifestyle.
Chuck will bring the Senate family values, respect and relatability to the community, and the business savvy that is oftentimes lacking in politics. It is for these reasons, and many more, that my vote is for Chuck Edwards for Senate.
